Just about to order spokes from rosebikes for a new wheelbuild and found that I already have enough 14mm nipples for the build - calcs so far done on 12mm nipples, the default for the DT Swiss spoke length calculator.
It's been a few years since I've built any wheels, and most previous wheelbuilds have been XM819 rims which need 16mm, hence the surfeit of 14mm nipples that would've been supplied with the spokes I'd have bought.
Any pros/cons to using 14mm rather than standard 12mm..?
Nope - will be fine , youll find the thread length inside is the same anyway.
Ta, just saved me a few quid!
(After that thread on here last night about that eBay seller I seem to need some reassurance when it comes to nipples...)
You can't beat long nipples 😆
Oh I thought it was going to be about juicing lemons 🙁
*high fives fivespot*
Indeed!
*another hi-5*
That'll be the cold weather.
They get longer after having kids. And a tad crusty!!!
Does it build a stronger wheel using 14mm nips instead of 12mm?
Just wondered for future reference.
