Road bike or a full suss! Completely different I know. And I've just bough a Cannondale Sl5 do I need a full suss yet or improve my riding first on a Hardtail. And use the road bike when I just want to get out and ride.

Why can't you use the mountain bike when you want to just 'just get out and ride'?
