Just changed pads for the first time on my front wheel ( Avid Elixir) old ones popped out no problem.New ones straight in.Thing is this: Disc was tight going back in-between pads and is rubbing a bit.Killed me doing a 40 min climb.

I was thinking they would bed in and all would be ok,,, not.
Do I simply need to bleed the system a bit to allow the pistons to go back in?

Thanks

You need to push the pistons back - do it carefully - plastic tyre lever can be good orput the old pads back in and use a screwdriver ( use teh old pads so as not to risk damage new ones)

Unless you have bought cheapo pads that are too thick - some are.

Occasionally there can be too much fluid in teh system which stops the pads going back far enough - in which case you need to open the bleed valve as you push the pads back but this is unlikely unless you have topped up the fluid with half worn pads
