New Vitus Mythique or Escarpe

Hi Everyone,

Am looking at upgrading from my 2021 Nucleus to my first full-sus.

Have around £2k to spend and was initially going to get the new Mythique VRX but have recently seen that there is an offer on the Escarpe CR so the costs are similar.

The Escarpe gets a carbon front triangle and an extra 10mm of front travel but not sure if it being an older bike design would cause any issues.

Mostly do XC with the odd trail-centre thrown in. I’m slightly lanky but am super light so not sure if the extra travel would be worthwhile.

Anyone got any thoughts on what to go for or experience with the Escarpe?

Thanks

James

I assume you're comparing these two
https://www.wiggle.co.uk/vitus-escarpe-29-cr-mountain-bike £1899.99
https://www.wiggle.co.uk/vitus-mythique-27-vrx-mountain-bike-1 - £1847.99

They're very similar on specs and geometry. 10mm travel isn't going to be that noticeable, but I expect the Escarpe is a bit lighter due to the Carbon. The Escarpe is only a year old - but still has very current geo - so don't worry there. Both seem like fairly average climbing bikes - so perhaps not ideal for long XC rides.

I've had an Escarpe before - was really impressed with the build quality and ride feel.

If you're doing mostly XC have you considered the Rapide FS?

Will be much lighter than either of these and is designed for XC - but a lot less travel so less suited to trail centres.
