Quite radical for Cube to put a dropper on a HT, been influenced by the UK end of the company as the Germans just don't get trail HTs normally

wonder when there will be info on spec and pricing - my son's Cube Acid is getting a bit small for him and that would do him a treat !!

Finally; their hardtails have been bent towards XC and bimbling for too long if you ask me.

Might be a winner if they avoid their "traditional" geometry tendencies

This isn't a put down on Cube... But I thought they were a low end outfit?

Seem to see a lot of cheap Cube frames/ bikes around.

Are there 2 companies with the same/similar names?

Genuine question by the way and not seeking to offend any owners!

(Bike in the OP's post looks very nice by the way.)

Same as most companies, they have bikes from £200-£8000+

Maybe you should try one fifeandy, you might actually like it.
Can't say this looks like anything new, or exciting though.

Yeah, maybe i should. Certainly wouldn't be against trying one at a demo day.
Can't help getting the feeling that any time i'd be hitting something hard enough to need more than 100mm travel up front, then i probably want something to soak up the hit at the back too.

Lots of info here.

http://www.bike-magazin.de/mtb_news/mtb_neuheiten/cube-das-neue-stereo-140-und-fullys-fuer-2018/a36746.html

Looks like all Stereos will have a carbon front triangle, no more Aluminium. Pretty brave. Economies of scale working out.

My thoughts as well. They only seem popular in the UK and Canada, so my thinking is it is probably just because they work okay in the mud, with less to go wrong. Otherwise they don't make much sense.

They always seem to go under the radar Cube bikes. I got a Stereo 140 in January, nothing came close spec for cash and I've had 1100 happy miles on it since.

Maybe I'm in the minority but I don't think it looks that nice...the top tube/seat tube join looks a bit, well rubbish IMHO.

Really hard to guess geometry from a photo but certainly doesn't look that long, and they've always come up short in the past.

I just can't get excited about it, or in truth other Cube bikes. Not a snobbish thing, but others can compete on spec (vitus, on one, pinnacle, bird, canyon etc) and offer something better for what I am looking for.

Saying that I would be interested in finding out a bit more on this to see if they are changing tact.

Oh and nothing wrong with a QR with a dropper.

Makes a change to see a Cube bike in one colour and with minimal writing on it.

It's the differences that make bikes so good. I'm not a fan of full suss. Too much maintenance, stuff to go wrong and deadens everything which, to me, ruins the fun. Not ridden anywhere in the UK that would justify me spending a fortune on a full squish bike. Each to their own

I have a full sus (Orbea Occam) and a Hardtail (Ragley Marley). Most of the time the Marley is more fun, it's only on really "big" stuff (for me) that the Occam comes into its own. Long travel hardtails are ace.

Indeed. If they'd made the top tube more like the new Stereo in that German link up there, it'd be so much nicer and contemporary. No need for a high top tube with gert big drops on dropper posts these days.

Threw a 120mm on my reaction carbon a while ago, it’s a much better bike for it.

Makes a change to see a Cube bike in one colour and with minimal writing on it.

Mines black, with black decals, and black writing

And a tiny bit of red

27.2 seat post wtf ,old school seattube lengths toptube/reach on all of them so short!!! Only real thing of note is they’ve finally got a head angle on a hardtail that’s finally court up with 2014 ffs.
Nice looking but still very dated by today’s standards. Should sell though as most cubes do
