Hi All,
I want to upgrade the rotors for my up and coming trip to alps, as last year I managed to boil the brakes on a particular long fast descent.
The bike is a zesty 514 and I currently have 203 upfront and 180 at the back. I have Hope Tech V2 brakes and was looking at the HOPE Floating 203mm Rotor.
I'm assuming the front will just work with these new rotors as they are 203 already.

What do I need to get the back to work with 203? do I just need a rear adapter such as

I currently have Shimano rotors, will I be able to just swap out these and replace with the hopes? any special tools needed or anything?
Apologies for all the questions, i've left this a bit late in the day and only have tomorrow to get them and install them and i've not touched the rotors since having the bike hence the uncertainty.
Many Thanks in Advance
A plus rear adapter will get you there, you might need to file the mount or adapter to clear the rotor rivets though. (about 1mm)
Hi Mike,
I don't quite get what you mean about the rotor rivets? why would they catch? are you talking about the rivets that attach the floating section?
Also you say "A plus rear adapter" do you just mean next one up ie. 203?
If your on 180 currently you will need the next size up, are they hope brakes? If so have a look on their site for the right IS to Post for 203. Easiest way is to roll into a bike shop and pick one up. I have had to file 1 adaptor to miss the rotor rivets, the hope ones were fine. It was just 1mm so nothing vital.
you're running center lock hubs you can't run hope 6 bolt rotors
unless you run a 6 Bolt Hub Adaptor
Yeah, there HOPE TECH EVO X2. So if I order some Hope Disk Brake Mount Adapter they should fit the rotors and no need to file them down.
Feeling a little dense here now, but still a little confused what I need out of these options
Mount A-Post Caliper to IS (F-160/R-140)
Mount B-Post Caliper to IS (F-203/R-183)
Mount C-Post Calipe to Post (F-203/R-203)
Mount D-Post Caliper to Boxxer, pre-2010 (F-203)
Mount E-Post Caliper to Fox 40 (F-203)
Mount F-Post Caliper to IS (F-180/R-160)
Mount G-Post Caliper IS (R-203)
Mount H-Post Caliper to Post (F-183)
Mount J-Post Caliper to IS (F-183)
Mount K-Post Caliper to Post (R -PM 140-PM 160)
Guessing I need Mount B-Post Caliper to IS (F-203/R-183) for the front? (I don't need this, but prefer they match)
Mount G-Post Caliper IS (R-203) for the rear?
Am I on the right track?
Oh greeble, just seen your post... ๐
So would need one of these Shimano 6-bolt rotor to Centre-Lock hub disc adapter
This is getting pricey... ๐
I dont really understand im sure the rotors have nothing to do with boiling your brakes, that is more to do with the callipers - you said in your OP that you had the V2 callipers, yet in the post above you mention X2 - im think, but the Hope website will tell you, but the X2 is for XC riding
so i hate to say it but you might need to upgrade
but if you want to run the brakes, then yes Mount G is the correct one to run 203 on the rear and you'll need the 6-bolt adapter
less helpful answer - stay off the brakes ๐
Yeah, realised in OP I said V2... they are X2...
I understand these are XC brakes really, but at this late stage I can't really get into changing the brakes. I thought upgrading the rotors may help dissipate the heat better as a quick fix.
Thanks for all your input, think i've got it clear now.
