Built this up, within a budget, all sourced from STW.

Aim was for a light, nimble springy singletrack steed (that didn't cost too much)... seems to be achieved probably thru the geometry + skinny steel tubes + softail + tubeless tyres.

Be gentle with abuse ๐Ÿ˜•

Angles look bloody slack or is it a dodgy pic angle.

Realman - realised on a ride today that I'd forgotten to put the chain guide on ... but the chain hasn't come off

cynic-al - guess we're in different camps! I've never understood why softail's never took off ... a modicum of comfort for minimal weight gain / complexity

And no idea on the angles - ride's pretty quick IMO

I'd put the chainguide on, for security, and because single ring geared bikes look odd without one lol.

Funny how when you've forgotten something, the world's a good place ... but once a seed of doubt is planted, anxiety creeps in. Goes off to find chain guide!

Weren't those designed for 80mm forks? I'm sure when you're on it and forks have 'sagged' it will be lovely. IIRC I had Quadra 21's, then upgraded to Judy DH's on my Team SL.

Beautiful colour, fantastic bike.

I'm more than a tad envious.

Certainly feels fast and nimble.

Pretty happy with it (thanks Ade) ... need to sort out brake hose after having a disc mount welded on - they didn't recommend welding guides on as they said it's v v thin / skinny tubing so no desire to distort it.

Forks are 90mm Pro Class 2's so pretty close to recommended set up ... tho something a tad more up to date might be nice
