Really looking for some feedback on one of these. I'm looking at buying 'The One' model but can't find any mag reviews. If anyone own one in Kent area I'd be very grateful if I could arrange to have a quick ride on one (can't find a dealer with a demo bike). You could have a go on my Prince Albert!

Many thanks

Simon

*puts hand up*

Had one for 2 years, really like how it rides, deffo a cross country/trail bike - not all mountain (to use modern terms).

Only review I have seen was for a AMS 100 on, I think, bike radar.

Unfortunately I'm in Yorkshire so a bit distant - will be at Mountain Mayhem this weekend though if you are.

I've got a 2009 AMS100 which had 90 -> 120mm up front and of course 100mm at the rear but similar in design / concept - it's a great bike, find it comfortable and handles well - I have it set up for Enduro XC. Have riden S & N Wales and Lakes so can handle most stuff.

Another thumbs up for the AMS here, I had the 100mm K18 version.

A bit xc, but the 125 has slightly slacker angles. It was spot on for my regular run around Dalby forest, always wished I'd gone for the 125 version as probably wouldn't have got rid of it if I had. Black anodised finish wore really well. With the fox rp2 it hardly suffered from any bob. It tracked over the ground far better than my 5 (which tends to be a bit 'on or off'). The 'one' brakes may be a bit of a git to bleed, seem to remember the dealer moaning about them, prob worth checking out if you plan to do them yourself .... but all in all it was cracking bike!

AMS 100 Pro here, superb bike, done some marathon events on it as well as general trail & xc riding. Was thinking about getting a 125, but decided to try the 100 as a 125 was similar to my '07 Orange 5.

Anything I've done on my 5 I've been able to do on the Cube (ok I've not had much airtime on the Cube compared to the 5 but it does seem to handle it well)

Great traction on climbs, fast & fun on singletrack, pretty quick pointed downhill too. Whatever I ride on it it just feels really planted.

It's so good I might be selling my 5 😯

Thanks for the feedback guys. Anything negative (apart from the Claude Butler comparison!)? How about BB height? on the Stereo it's very low

Cheers

You're right about the bottom bracket it is a bit low but after a while you do learn to adapt to it. I was catching all kinds on my first couple of outings. Don't let it put you off though.

>I said Cube once and my friend repied "ahh the German Claud Butler" ,

In that they both have an extensive range of bikes? I think the similarity ends there.

I know it's a HT but my Cube GTC race is a superb bit of kit, couldn't match the spec and the frame for the price with any the mainstream bikes.

The AMS is a cracking bike for the spec, frame and cash.

I'd even look at a Cube to replace my Focus road bike when changing it (oh, and I'm not wearing jack boots as I run an Orange Evo as my regular HT)

I have a Cube AMS 125 K18 model, 2 yrs old with Formula Oro brakes and Fox Float RP23 rear and Rock Shox Revelation forks. They have gone up alot in price since then and the spec for your money is not as good as it was. Formula Oro are superb, only one needed bleeding a month ago before the Sam Houghton Challenge.

The bike is a great XC/Enduro and like the fact that you can lock both front and back to a hardtail road bike, handy for blitzing up lakeland passes. Light enough to carry on your shoulder. I had thought about Fox forks but they were heavier (plus another £300 more) and felt that Rock Shox was ample for the job and went for its lighter weight. 125 gives you more leeway when landing and on the rocky stuff plus I am nearly 15 stone so the 100 won't go far for me!

Negatives - none really other than usual wear and tear - BB replaced twice, headset bearings, rear suspension bushes wear out quicker than you think and can cost £40 to replace all. All in all a great fast full sus bike.
