Hi,
I've just taken a brand new deore front mech off a donor bike and when I adjust the outermost front chainring the mech locks and won't shift back down.
If I shift the shifter down the cable slackens but the mech stays over the largest ring. The only way to get it back down is to release the cable totally and it snaps back down. Which is strange because the cable is slack at this point.
It's as if the cable bolt is fouling the mech somewhere.
Any ideas on this people?

have a look at the bolt lenth, i had this. The bolt protrudes from the bottom of the thread and catches?

Ah ok ill go have a look, it doesn't release until I release the bolt so sounds about right.
It's the bolt that came with it though.
