Hi All,
I would very much like your opinion and thoughts for future enduro mountain bike races/events in North Yorkshire and the North of England.
What events would you like to see here? 3/6hr, 12hr, a series of enduro races or perhaps a epic cross moors 100mile+ challange? Perhaps all! What time of year would you like to see races held at? Spring, Autumn, Summer?
All comments very much welcome.
Thanks,
Steve
Where abouts in The North of England?
I think you need to distinguish between Endurance (12/24hr loops on a circuit or long distance non-technical) and Enduro (long distance, techy) - I live down south so no real opinion on the demand up north but I think there's an awful lot of these events generally so anything new would need to offer something, well, new - in terms of either format or location.
Nutcracker are running a 24 in North Yorkshire this year, 1-3 July.
i have little/no interest in 'endurance' events/xc races, but very keen for rally-style 'enduro' stuff.
I was just thinking that re definitions.
Seems to be three types of Enduros, technical DH type, Motorbike and 6/12 hour XC course type.
No real interest in regular 12/24hr races but longer events like 50 mile enuro style are good.
There aren't a huge number in the proper north of England. If there was a new one to tempt me it would have to offer something. Either a proper challenge (I'm not going to pay to ride 20 miles of trailcentre) or something new/different (I like some like the selkirk as it's a chance to ride stuff you wouldn't/couldn't normally).

Ditto.
I'll probably do a couple of rounds of the UK Gravity Enduro Series this year, but I don't have the time or money to travel the country to all of them. More of these types of events in the North would be good.
Enduro = tech stuff, often gravity based, multiple timed stages, etc
Things like Kielder 100, Dyfi "Enduro", or 12-24hour stuff is NOT Enduro, it's Marathon.
Ask UCI (it's the definition they give).
Ash - "ask UCI" good answer, kind of like Father Jack "that would be an ecumenical matter".
Steve - interested in all you mention & all year round too, my mates would be interested too.
How about something on the lines of motorbike enduros? E.g. Covering a reasonable distance cross country to a fairly slack time limit with a number of timed Special stages. That at least enables people who aren't so good [me] to complete the course but lets the fit and talented put in fast Specials times. From Matt's description of the Trans Provence, this seems to have been run on a similar format.

This is what the all-new UK Gravity Enduro series is.
Dates as follows:
Ae forest May 7th
Kielder June 11th
Innerleithen July 15th
Eastridge Aug 6th

Hi All,
Thanks to everyone who have left comments so far. We are looking at venues all across the north east and north of England, spanning from the North York Moors across to Kielder. We are very much open for suggestions at this stage on what the mtb community may like to see in this area for future racing/challanges etc. Just by going from a number replys so far, an enduro, one large loop event may be more inviting and different.
Please continue to leave further feedback as the more we get the better we can design an event and understand what riders want.
Thanks again,
Steve
I live in the north and like racing of all sorts so go for it!
