Here's my first CX build built for some training, exploring and the racing.

PaulMilnes SL Cross frame
Empella carbon fork
Froggleg canti's (ajustable)
Apex shifters
Force front mech
Rival rear mech
FSA Grossamer CX crank 36/26
12-26 cassette
moto bell lap bars
Fulcrum 7 wheels (from old rd bike)
Challenge Grifo tyres
time atac pedals (from mtb)
charge spoon (from mtb)

I've just got back from a 16 mile ride threw wooded single track, parks and paths. It was so so good and super fast!!! yeah the Frogglegs aren't mtb brakes but they where enough. They gave a good amount of brake judder on the road though and I could smell the pads and grit cooking the rims but did I mention how fast it is? 😀

I'm also so surprised how capable it was! I didn't really miss the rigid fork either.

For all those contemplating a cx bike - GET ONE!

Big up to DJ cycles in Ramsbottom for squeezing it in and finishing the build.

Alright, looks like mine. Was going to sell, but I'm going for a spruce up. And sort any equipment niggles.

Fornt pads dont look to have much toe-in. I found the adjustable pads on those froggleg to be less than useless for adjusting but handy when you need to replace pads. To get enough toe-in put a big adjustable spanner over the bobbin thing that holds the pad in and bend the whole caliper, then they will work a treat and not judder.

but very nice effort anyway (apart from the bar-tape!)

Is it actually faster than other cx bikes?

Cyclocross bikes are ace!

I would be even faster with nicer bar tape. 😉

once I get a yellow saddle the build will be complete!

the spoon seems a little wide when dismounting.

black spacers and front canti hanger plus some yellow detailed rims once these are goosed and it will be a beaut!

not sure about faster but its race geometry as opposed to a more relaxed cx/touring frame.

...I cant believe people are dissing the bar tape - its awesome!
