I only have a very short commute when working in the office and to date have done that commute on foot and by bus.

However when a SS 26''project was canned in favour of a geared build I found myself with a spare frame 😉

I had previously trialled 700c tyres in 26'' frames with reasonable success so it seemed a good pairing to try the IO with a spare set of disc ready road wheels.

Most bits for this have either come from the spares box or from here.

Frame came to be in a well used state but a fresh powder coat in Kawasaki green has made it look brand new 😀

Not bothering with decals as I like the look of the build as it it.

Frame is run with a shorter than usual fork (420mm rather than 440mm) with seemingly no ill effect. Photo is taken on a skew so makes it look steeper than it is. TT is horizontal to the ground.

Cable discs (AVID BB5 Road) are interesting 😕 not sure that they will stay.

Needs a new chain as this one is recycled from Mrs LMTTM long neglected bike - hence condition 😳

Its fairly heavy and wont set the world alight but I like it 8)

I like the look of that.

Whats the problem with the BB5? They work well in mtb guise for me

Think that's quite nice, myself. What rim/wheels/tyres are you using?

Nice that - I've pondered doing the same many times with my iO. I might just give it a go if I can get hold of a pair of 700c disc wheels.

Thank you.

They are definitely BB5 calipers. I haven't given the bike a proper ride yet but they don't feel as instant as my hydo discs. I wasn't expecting them to TBH but they do feel a bit squidgy - maybe some more fettling is required 😆

Wheels are basic Taurus rim jobies running Continental City tyres.

Hoping with a tyre change they might be okay for light offroad duties.

It I get on with it I will be looking for some MTB 29er wheels with a 17/19mm rim to replace these as they are quite heavy 😕

Let me know - weight in wheels is not a big deal for me 😉
