My LBS is about to order a new road bike for me and it’s either the 2019 Spesh Venge Pro disc or the Tarmac pro disc. I would appreciate any views from people who own this years model of either bike.. It looks like a test ride isn’t going to possible as I’ll have to decide in the next two weeks or so otherwise both bikes will be sold out!
As a bit of background I now ride an S Works Tarmac from 2006 , something along these lines.
https://www.google.de/search?q=sworks+tarmac+2006&rlz=1C9BKJA_enDE734DE734&oq=sworks+tarmac+2006&aqs=chrome..69i57j0l3.11852j0j4&hl=en-GB&sourceid=chrome-mobile&ie=UTF-8#imgrc=4hDWfVU0ppHGyM:
Now the question is what would suit me more. My friend at the LBS said he’d go for the the Tarmac as it is more comfortable but the area where I live is fairly flat and windy or with rolling hills but also a fair amount of cobbles/bad roads. But on the other hand he’d heard from a customer who has both bikes with virtually identical specs that the Venge was noticeably faster above 32 kmh in racing situations. So can anyone give me some real life feedback on either of the current Tarmac and Venge models. Thanks.
If racing get the Venge.
If riding get the Tarmac.
Own neither, have ridden both, albeit briefly.
The Venge is a fast, no compromise aero-sled. The Tarmac is fast, but more forgiving for longer rides and mere mortals.
Thanks for the feedback Flashy. The question is how uncompromising is the Venge? Does it batter you about with its stiffness? I generally use the road bike for training but I do enter a few road races in the year though my emphasis is more mtb marathons and CX in the winter.
Ridden both and would buy either. Sorry, not helpful I know.
the Venge was the nicer of the two for my tastes but no where near as comfy as a cervelo s3 disc or 3t strada.
