After waiting 6 weeks for my Tempest to be delivered (despite it being listed as in stock at the time of ordering) it finally arrived this morning...... with a bent mech hanger.

The joys of PlanetX.

I don't think you are the only one to have had this I'm afraid, was it poking out of the box?

Not quite, the box has a wee crease/mark from where it looks like it has taken an impact though. Hard to tell without dismantling it exactly to put it back in the box but it seems to line up.

At least you won't have to put up with fragile, sub-micron paint 🙂

I know Canyon ship their bikes with a little tool kit, torque wrench, shock pump etc.

Maybe Planet X need to start sending their bikes with a free mech hanger alignment tool....

It's not easy to protect a bike in transit to be fair. Presumably Planet X will be happy to replace it? If not, then you can complain.

Surely new bikes could be boxed up with mech and mech hanger removed, would only take seconds to reinstall and would solve problems like this.

after working in a bike shop i'm no longer amazed the damage/chaos an inexperienced spanner wielder can do when "i just tweaked it a bit/had a go myself" scenario is employed. so no, that's not a solution.

Oh yes it is. I sent built bikes all around the UK on a daily basis as part of my job. In three years we had one damaged bike.

Nonsense, don't put the cart before the horse! This is Planet-X related, you complain to the world first, then you ask them for a new mech hanger.

To be fair, I did submit something via the contact us form before this post. Ain't heard back yet though.

It also let me get a headstart on (shoddily) applying some protection tape.

I remember getting a couple of On One boxes where the protective packaging process seemed to involve upending the workshop bin into it.

Planet X/on one have been mailing out frames unprotected for years. I bought a 456 six year's ago and it came with a bent hanger and dented head tube. I did eventually get a replacement off them but not before a load of hassle
