Hey all,

As above.

I have a Truvativ Firex chainset that will need a new BB soon.

Do I stay with a SRAM GPX BB or go with A N Other and go with a converter/shim for the axle?

Any thoughts?

Had a Truvativ on my P7 and was completely knackered in just under a year. Fitted Hope BB 18 months ago (inc adaptor) and still running smooth-as. My crankset is also Firex and I ride 30-40 miles a week.

Cool.

It was a hope + adapters I was looking at.

Have you gone ceramic?

Any reason why the hope adapters wouldn't work with other BBs?

I've run SRAM GXP BB's for about 5 years now & find that they generally last me about 9-15 months depending on how much riding I get in (in summer about 3-4 rides a week, in winter 1-2 a week)

I guess it depends on how long the current one has lasted. I have been thinking more & more about switching to either a Hope or a Chris King (the 5 year warranty sounds great - especially for a BB - plus one of my mates has one & he's been very pleased with it). The less time the GXP lasts the more sense a CK makes.

I've just bought one of the new ones with the gutter seal BB. Will be interesting to see how long that one lasts.

My last Truvativ died after 16 months of mainly dry weather use, despite me filling the space between the inner BB shell and the axle with engine oil.
