Off to Peebles for a few days soon to do Glentress, Inners, Golfie etc but would like to do some longer xc type routes. I have done Gypsy Glen, over the Brethren and the one to the west that's in the Vertebrate book. Any suggestions for something different? Will have the car so could drive.

Surely people ride other stuff than the Trail centres when they go to Peebles?

Seeing as the golfie, thornielee, yair etc. dont count in any way shape and form as 'trail centres' then yeah we do! I was going to suggest gypsy glen as I enjoyed that. I think there's supposed to be some decent XC riding towards the lammermuir hills.

Try emailing the Tweedlove folks - they did/do a Natural Tweed route as part of the festival and shared maps with me - I'll see if I can dig them out.

Interested in this too, got a week in the tweed valley before a week long guided trip in the cairngorms so won't be overdoing things by riding innerleithen enduro trails every day - considering taking the gravel bike and/or doing some 'gentler' riding.

There is a nice ride from Innerleithen to St Marys loch following the Southern Upland Way. The return brings you back in to Peebles. It can be quite a big day though.
There is also a lot of potential for XC riding to the West of Peebles. I've done a couple of routes that finish with a descent at Cademuir.
Depending on exactly what you're after there is a huge amount of gravel road and little used tracks around the valley as well which could no doubt be turned in to some quite long distance routes.

They're certainly way more trail centre than natural xc.

Probably enough information in here to piece together the ride.
