As per title. My specialized henge is proper hars on my boney bits.
I tried one made me bum hurt so went back to SDG Bel Air RL ti doobry
Doesn't everyone have a spoon?
My Stumpy Evo came with a henge it was agony. Switched to a spoon which is cheap and painless.
Spoon is definitely worth a punt for the price. A favourite among many. I'm a user myself, although I would prefer it if it had a bit of a cutout personally, then it would be perfect.
Have one on my mountain bike and it's great. Had one on my road bike and it made my "junk" go numb for hours after a long ride, switched to a Specialized Romin which fixed it. I guess I move around a lot more on the MTB which helps keep the blood flowing?
I have a spoon on both my road and MTB bikes in various colours! Never found anything more comfortable!
Triton cycles are selling them cheap still, £15 for some colours and £18.50 for others!
I tried a spoon and it was ok. Not as comfy as an SDG bel air though. The new model bel air 2 is just as comfortable as the original but much more modern and a bit sleeker.
Or Madison Flux!
Got a Spoon after a hateful Gobi and thought it was great. Got another waiting for my next build.
Had a Bel Air before and liked it but prefer the Spoon.
Rutland had the leather/ti version for £30 over the weekend so might be worth having a look.
I didn't love my Spoon, it was alright but I sold it. For almost exactly what I paid for. So well worth trying.
(Gusset R and Madison Somethingorother are the same saddle with a different bag on its head)
worth a go but you probably won't know till you try it.
I've got two spoons on my MTBs and find them pretty comfy. They can be picked up so cheaply compared to other makes (I got one in a Cycle Surgery 20% off sale for £18 a year or two back) that you may as well get one to try out.
What about a scoop?
The Spoon have been great. Cheap so it's an easy replacement when you bend a rail in a big stack as I've done, and comfortable but not too bulky or over padded.
Problem is though, I think Charge are discontinuing them?
Charge = Fabric.
Nick's moved to another shiny marketing role these days! 😀
Tried a Spoon (twice) and found it bloody awful. Most painful saddle I've ever used.
I might be imagining it, but wasn't there a 'new' spoon with a different name being developed not long ago...
I have 4 of them oldest being about 4ish years now still going strong
Lucky that may have been the surface edition(I have one was a bit confused at first)

That's the Scoop.
The Spoon must be the most common MTB saddle in the UK by a mile! I have a very worn one on my Soul and a much newer Scoop on my Spitfire. Great saddle if they're your size/shape. (My first Spoon had Ti rails - they broke after not that long. It replaced a Boardman saddle with Ti rails which broke. I have steel rails now!)
Fabric Scoop is what you're thinking of. Was the Charge Scoop, until the company decided to rebrand for their saddles to fabric.
Great saddle cheep price No brainer love mine
Thanks guys, always good to know that I haven't gone mad!!
I've got them on my mtb and my commuter, they're pretty damn good.
I recently got one of these - it's absolutely ace! No more feeling like mister barrymore's guest of honour after a ride for me. Admittedly, I'm <10 stone and lardier rumps may be too much for it to handle, but it's taken everything i've clattered over in it's stride the last couple of months. And all for less than seven quid!
I started on the Spoon and have gone through about 7 or so.
I then tried the Scoop and found it much more comfortable. It's got a similar/same profile but I think it has slightly more flex and it's more durable. I'll be sticking with the Scoop from now on.
I've tried loads of different saddles over the years, I've never really gotten on with the SDG Bel Air or Specialized's BG range, but the two saddles I rate extremely highly are the Spesh Henge and the Spoon.
The Spoon is absolutely ace even before you factor in the fact that it costs twenty five sniffs.
I'm a plus one for the SDG Bel Air, I went from a well padded WTB saddle to the Bel Air and it is immensely comfy. It handles my 13st weight very ably.
Yep, Charge Spoon here - rode from London to North Wales on it earlier this year.
Can't see why i'd pay more for a saddle.
I'm on about my 5th Spoon, and now trying a Scoop too on one of my bikes. The Scoop is a bit firmer in the padding but more flexy underneath, it seems to suit my arse though as I find it even comfier than a Spoon.
I've got to try one of those spudface things for 7 squids 😀
As mentioned above, have a look at the Madison Flux, its a Spoon with a bit more padding and kevlar reinforcements on the sides, more suited to the rigours of MTB than the Spoon imo.
+ 1 for the Spoon, ++1 for the Flux
Tho neither (for me) beat Specialized's Indie XC - now discontinued and I neeeeed one!
I have them on 3 MTB. Did 10 miles off road and could still dance, which was nice........I rate them. Although I wouldn't put one on a road bike. I have a wee bottom, I don't know if that makes a difference....
I rate the spoon, it's on my most used bike while saddles at *2 and *3 the price languish in the parts box.
I had a Spoon and didn't get on with it at all. I didn't really get on with the Charge Knife either - both are too wide for me and aren't made all that well (more of an issue on the more expensive Knife).
I'm a fan of fairly narrrow saddles - SDG I/Ti Fly being my favourites.
