A few weeks ago whilst we still had some nice Autumn weather and dry trails I had a go at making my first mtb video and I'm quite pleased about the result.
I only used a cheap happy snap camera and some free video editing softwear; only thing I did realise is that you have to spend a lot of time riding to get a very small amout of footage. Still it's great fun and extends the biking experience when you get home.
Choice of music is also a difficult consideration; did feel I could use music that was too rad as I wasn't doing 40' sick to the rad drops or grinding an old biddies zimmer frame.
nicely done, must have taken a while to edit and put together.
would like to do this myself but dont think i would have the patience!
Great first effort.
See, that's exactly what it's all about. Nicely done that man. Understated and has made me want to get on the bike.
Really nice. I like the camera positioning giving a combination of some long views and low perspectives on corners where appropriate. Autumn is perfect for this kind of footage with the leaves still settling long after you are out of shot. Did you use a tripod for that and what editing software was it if you don't mind me asking? Did you remember to go back and get your camelbac as you appear to have lost it halfway through ๐ ?
great first effort +1
good use of short clips, most of the static shots are framed really nicely and good flow to the footage. makes me want to buy a camera and start doing it myself ๐
please dont take this as a criticism as its a fantastic vid, but maybe on the next vid spend a little bit more time playing with the timing as you cut between shots, you've already got the hang of linking the direction of riding between shots, but a few frames here and there might help the shots link up even better.
what camera did you use and where was it filmed?
damn man... now i really want to start filming again!
made me feel all warm inside and glad that I am out on my bike later! ๐
Good little film. Nicely edited.
cheers guys, glad you're liking the vid; makes me want to get out and film more ๐
I used a Nikon Coolpix S3000 I think (a really cheap camera), the softwear was Windows Moviemaker. Might see if I can afford an HD camera now as it is great fun being able to put footage togther.
It took two days to get enough footage and I remembered the tripod for the second day after faffing around try to find ledges and branches that would hold the camera on the first day.
The trails are greenham common and newtown forest in Newbury, luckily only 5mins ride from home.
really good first effort!
Nicely done. I've only done one vid too. It's amazing how much footage you look at on the computer and thing "why did I think that would look good". I didn't have a tripod either and struggled with camera positions. Mostly on the ground with my camelback for support. I've since bought one of those gorillapods to make use of trees.
I fancied making a cable cam, but I haven't got around to it.
Self-filming is definitely a fun thing to do with a spare half-day and woods are a great place to do it.
Just nice. You put the camera in some perfect spots.
A real 'this is why' video
This is good!
However, you seem to have lost your backpack after the first few shots. I hope you find it.
You wouldn't know that was your first video. Great choice of music, and also some good framing of shots given that they are all fixed. A really enjoyable vid and look forward to seeing some more. Maybe you will now be inspired to make some videos with friends in, and with some moving camera shots too.
Very nice ๐
