I finished my first bike a couple of week ago, and since then it has been commuting. My friend and I finally took it up to Sherwood Pines yesterday for my first exposure to a trail centre and I had a blast. Came off a few times on that "spectacular" 1 foot high rock in the downhill section after repeated attempts, but no injuries to report. We did the red trail one and a bit times as well as the downhill bits with the wooden ramps and walls.

Definitely going back!

So, finished bike, all with second hand parts from STW classifieds and my friend (the shifters, cassette. mechanism etc all came from the blue Inbred you see in one of these images). The only new things on the bike are the stem and the pedals.

I think I'm going to swap the grips for foam ones, and possibly get some low rise bars.

Nice. I'd definitely stick some risers on and althought the current fad for super-wide bars is ridiculous I would consider putting something a little wider on there, maybe 680mm?

Oh and sort that saddle out before your cock stops working!

An unusual choice of bars for a Summer Season... But if it works for you, then great! Personally i'd put some risers on there, and cut the steerer tube down to get rid of all those spacers.

PS - Your mate's blue Inbred is actually a 456 😉

Yes, the saddle was fixed for the afternoon, and the grips and bars were part of the second hand assortment of stuff so I figured I'd give them a go, but I am thinking risers would be better.

It feels amazing though - I can see why people like doing this 🙂
