That's it really. She has just learn't to pedal in the past month or so, we have taken only her up the local lane on short rides. She went on the "family ride" to Exmouth seafront and cycle route today with MrsNacho and the grandparents. She could have gone in the trailer but wanted to ride her bike and pedalled over 4 miles of the route. I'm so proud 🙂 and can't wait to get her riding in the local woods

teach her to do it with a satchel and you can her out on a paper round before shes four.

Seriously though. Well done - I'm in the process of getting my one year old grandson obssessed with bikes. Having spent a few weeks substituting cbeebies for Tour De France on Eurosport,We've just completed the sitting on grandads bike holding the bars shouting 'bike' and making wooshing noises (wind in the ears rather than an engine)faze and are just about to enter the riding in a baby seat faze. The ongoing brainwashing is going well, but I'm not sure he's as keen on the Vuelta as he was the Tour. Can't wait to actually go riding with him - if he can get to do four miles at three I'd be well chuffed.

That rocks, my three and half year old has a Trek trike as there are no pavements here and he loves cycling on the smoother trails. Not up to 4 miles yet, but around 3. I'm also a proud father.

Congratulations.

I'm trying to convince my two year old to ride her bike (without pedels) and she can't see the point when she can get me to push her on a nice safe trike.

Yep, she also rides an Apollo firechief, £2 from the tip - it weighs more than my hardtail!! She has a £70 Puky scootybike but seems to have lost interest since she can pedal which is fine as my 2 year old boy has just started showing an interest in it
She is getting an Islabike as soon as she grows another 1-2cm (and we can afford it)

Hey Nigel
That is great. 4 miles for a three year old is quite an achievement.
I suspect there is a lot more miles to come.
Cheers, Hanno

PS Now tell her brother to go sit on the naughty step 😉

That's great with a 3 year old, and all my friends are struggling to get their girls interested in riding bikes.

I've found I can get No 1 son (4) up to around 5/6 miles on level ground if I sufficiently over exaggerate the amount of Haribo waiting at the end of the ride. But nothing stops the need to get off and poke roadkill with a stick. Nor should it.

Anyone know of a cheap source of 'gatorbar' towbar thingies?? Would be perfect for a longer loop with him, but Belgian mix would be cheaper than the ones I've seen. For me that is.

our wee boy has that ridge back also - going to be taking him up glen tress soon to do the blue route he is learing to go no stablisers fast and can roller blade too. Our 2 yr old girl also bit of adrenalin junkie and loves to try to ride her brother bike, so no dolls houses from santa this yr just a specialised!

well done for you and you wee boy tho - so cool that your kids love bikes too! 😆
