[Closed] Mudguards to work with 45mm gravel bike tyres

I know I could MTFU, but as I commute on currently messy towpaths, I want to try and reduce the amount of crap that ends up on me and my clothing.

What are people using for similar purposes with 45mm tyres - Speedrockers don't go wide enough, so I'm assuming some 29er sized seatpost/fork mounted option is where I should be looking?

I use SKS Bluemels on 650x47s and they work really well.

SKS Bluemels 53s. I've got 45s and they are just ok with 43mm tyres, they might work for you but I'd go for the 53s to be safe.

I'd also suggest setting up with pretty reasonable clearance, especially if they are semi knobbly tyres. The temptation will be to make them stealth and snug to the tyres but you'll get clogged up and/or be vulnerable to stick impingment then face/towpath interface.

I rate PDW full metal fenders. Not cheap, but nice quality and have worked well on my commuter

I was going to say the same about Velo Orange fenders which as nearly as nice for a bit less money. But in both cases I don't think they do a size quite right for a knobbly 45mm 700c. VO have the 52mm Zeppelin but that is still a bit tight.

Just bought some SKS Bluemels Matt 700 x 53 to fit over Rock n Road 700 x 43s on a PX Tempest. Certainly big enough but the U shaped fork crown may warrant some guard trimming as the guard profile is almost flat topped with steeper sides. Basic curved Bluemels may have been better. Check your fork shape and guard profile before buying.

Bontrager NCS, may be at the top end of the range for them but worth a look.

SKS Beavertail XLs would work.

You can get wide SKS mudguards.

As fitted to my daughter's bike...

I've got a set of these, currently covering some 42mm Clement xplors just fine and they just cover 47mm byways (650b).

I used Flinger F50s, seemed very solid.

While we're on the subject has anyone tried Speedrockers? They're not wide enough for the OP, but I like the look of them.
