I got these today and have just fitted.
First impressions - the gut fender is like a really light downtube crud catcher - fits securely and looks like it will do a decent job (in conjunction with bender fender on the fork).
Butt fender looks gimmicky and I suspect it will come off to the spares bin after first ride...
Any experiences as to how they work in use ?
I have the butt fender. It looks flimsy but stayed on through a few crashes the other day. That said while I'm sure it must have helped, I still had a wet and dirty arse(not like that). On reflection that could have been where I was hanging way off the back on downhill sections.
I also have the bender fender XL and that did a great job on a filthy day in Wales (Saturday).
All in, considering how cheap they are, I don't think you can go too far wrong.
Thanks, the gut fender actually looks every bit as good as a front crudcatcher so will see how it works later in the week. Less sure on the back one but sounds not totally useless !
The butt fender is ok if it is a little bit wet. Obviously, not so good when the weather really turns bad. That said it is better than nothing at all. The bender fender on the front works very well and keeps fork stanchions pretty clean. Never tried the gut fender
Got all three last week. Bender Fender is way better than the Neoguard I had, pretty awesome really. Butt Fender stayed on through a couple of offs but didn't seem to offer much in the way of stopping arse / back from getting soaked. Gut Fender seemed to just be good for stopping the down tube getting dirty, my front seemed as soaked as without it TBH.
yeah, agree with all above. bender xl on front is very good and better than neo guard. i bought the butt one when in lakes and realised id forgotten my big plastic proper job. rear one works ok for what it is, better than nothing and does stay on tight if fitted properly. not as good as a full rigid plastic job though.
The bender is ace the butt fender is a waste of cash. I was very disappointed with it ๐
butt fender only works with certain saddles and its rigidity is affected by position of saddle rails in clamps. I have one on a WTB Silverado and it sticks out horizontally, and kept the worst of the lakes the Penmachno [S]irrigation engineers[/S] trail builders have captured and retained off my arse. Put one on Munqe Chick's Selle Italia which has a plastic cross bar joining the saddle rails to the base, and this caused the fender to point backwards and downwards at about 45 degrees, rendering it useless.
Gut fender is very, very good but as above for the Butt fender; got a few of them plus the original Ass fender - none work at all really. Nice idea but pretty useless in practice in proper mud and slop.
Got a butt fender great on road to stop spray on your arse, but didn't do much in the mud, but it never is really.

I found the fender one rubbish - not enough clearance for muddy tyres, wheel stuck solid - binned it.
Had an 'ass saver' too - again, binned it...
Neoguard FTW..
DrP
I did a couple of rides with the bender fender and crudguard setup, which seemed good, so keen to see if the more minimalist gut fender is as good - looks like it might be...
sound like the butt fender wont be staying on long !
Fender bender was great, until I changed to some rubber queens which are quite tall tyres. I then had to remove it as it buzzed all the time.
Great upto that with mud x's and nobby Nics though.
ok, first ride last night with the gut fender/bender fender combo. Trail conditioms were sodden, muddy, natural Mugdock stuff and the gut fender was every bit as effective as the crudcatcher it replaced, yet a fraction of the weight and removed/fitted in sub 5 seconds. Gets my vote ๐
The butt fender remains in my garage, and I used a bodged rear Topeak Defender on the wishbone of my Soul as couldn't fit around reverb gubbins.
