Recently bought a Ti Genesis Altitude frame, just got round to building it up with a selection of parts off the 853 version I've had for a while, bits I had lying about, and a new chain device (decided to go 1x9).
I quite like it anyway! Now just to see if Ti is for me, or if I prefer the feel of Reynolds 853... Best go and ride it to find out I suppose!
Oh, and for those interested, it's 10.4kg as is, which is 23.3lb in old money. Quite impressed, didn't think it would break below 24lb to be fair, though it's likely to get heavier with beefier tyres, a 10spd setup and perhaps some flat pedals soon...
that is really nice!
Does the cat have steps up to the flap?
๐
That just looks 'right' if you know what I mean.
Nice bike.

I think that doorstep could handle a bit of pointing

LOL, the cats manage fine, it's the stupid little puppy my housemate just bought that needs em apparently! It's half the size of the cats still, pisses everywhere, and makes noise constantly from about 4am til about 10pm!

Not my house, and I'm moving out soon, so I couldn't care less! ๐
Nicely done, looks very good.
Here's another pic.
Got some 640mm 12 degree sweep flat bars I might try on it soon to see what they're like, and probably gonna try a semi slick tyre on the back for a bit more speeeeeeeed ๐
Not that either will help me get uphills any better mind!
EDIT: Also tempted to stick my 710mm wide Sunline V1 bars on it, and some fatter tyres, and go shred! We'll see... Probably keep it more in line with all round XC bike to be fair...
Oi!! Lay off the puppy. You'd be quite upset if you were taken away from your parents at such an early age 8)
No real beef with the puppy, plenty of beef with it's owner (my housemate) who got it knowing he's away from home 12 hours a day at least, and often all weekend, so can't give it anything like the attention it craves!
Anyway, back to the bike... White or black saddle (to replace the demonstrator on loan from the LBS) to go with the current colourscheme? And would you bother looking for some White fork legs too? ๐
So, white fork legs, would you...?
Black forks would look better with the frame I reckon, white and black saddle
Looking nice anyway!
Is this your first titanium frame? If so is the difference noticeable?
I had a Ti frame about 6 years ago briefly, but to be honest the one I has was not at well suited to me at all. Bought an Airborne Lancaster (the ones that had seat tubes that cracked) off the back of a 5" full sus bike, and well... It was head down, arse up XC, so I sold it very quickly. And it was flexy as hell!
So this is my 2nd, and I'm a little sceptical, so keeping hold of the 853 steel frame (which I know and love) for 3 months as a "just in case" plan so I can always go back to it.
Difference not noted yet, only ridden it up and down the street. Will go out on it on Sunday for a proper blast though.
Nice build, looks v. nice.
I considered this frame as well, having had the Genesis alpitude and wanted something ti instead.
Be interested to hear what you make of it after riding it.
As above, it does look "just right" nice 1.

Will definitely report back on this at some time in the future. The age old argument of Steel Vs Ti is one I've paid close attention to (on a number of threads on this forum), and obviously it is a very subjective one. I don't think there has been many direct comparisons of the same frame, but made from the 2 different materials, so I'm keen to note the differences for myself.
Cheers for all the positive comments.
Looks nice in that 'it'll get you into trouble but have you laughing' type way. I'd keep the red bits myself. Red makes it faster.

Well that's pretty much how the steel one rode, so i'm hoping for more of the same!
Red saddle has to go back, has been on loan from LBS for a while, really need to buy one! White or black only though in the Specialized range.
Fun and lighter. What's not to like? Looking forwards to hearing how you get on with it. What about a Fizik Arione in red instead of a Specialised?
What about a Fizik Arione in red instead of a Specialised?
Fizik are hateful saddles to my arse. Taken me ages to find a saddle that I don't mind the shape of, tried a few Fiziks and they were all horrid!
I like that. Looks simple and understated. Doesn't scream 'expensive bike' with loads of gopping colours and logos.
Just get a black saddle, Mboy.
Well first ride done and... To be honest, I could have been riding the steel one and not noticed any different. It's only one ride though mind, maybe after a few more it'll become more apparent the "ride qualities" of titanium. The good news though is it doesn't appear to be a flexy mess like some Ti frames, it felt every bit as responsive and direct as my Steel frame did, with the exact same geometry that I know and love.
Managed ok with the 1x9 too, though I think I'll be hurrying up with the 10spd so I can get that bail out 36T cog on the back for a bit of extra help uphill.
proper nice steed there dude, bet it rides a beaut.
Nice, clean and simple looks.
Don't get a white saddle, they don't stay white for long.
Just out of curiosity, what saddle is that?
I've had a few white saddles before, and to be honest they'll never be ultra shiny again, but as long as you give em a wipe every so often they don't dull too much.
Saddle on the bike ATM is a Demo Specialized Romin 143, supposedly the roadie version but I quite like it. Might try a Phenom out too possibly.
