Tonight would have been stupid and irresponsible. No MNPR next week as we're riding the biggest BMX track in THE WORLD! 😀

Looks like the flooding started here already. A few roads closed. Flood warnings out for the whole area. There's water pouring off the tops.

A newbie ride tonight would be like asking someone if they fancied trying open water swimming, then throwing them out of a helicopter into the middle of lake Windermere!

😀

I''m stranded in manc. Trains are off and I've heard Tod is flooding. First f***ing storm of the winter and everything floods. Tories fault obviously. On the bright side I'm sat in Victoria station drinking a pint of Jaipur.

Some record river gauge readings already on the Tame at Uppermill, and the Irwell.

Tame at Delph

Yikes, we'd have been driving (or floating) through there around about now. Assuming I could have got out through this lot in the first place that is.

It's going to be like last winter all over again, isn't it? Great.

Obviously I was up for this. Bike packed in the car, canoe in the backpack. Gutted - gutted I tell you - to see that it's been called off. So be it. Any spaces left for the two-wheeled indoor mayhem next week?

Nope, sorry, sold out faster than Glasto this time for some reason. We'll be doing another one soon(ish) though, promise.

Sorry Tony. We'll do it again in a couple of weeks. There'll be a lot of chunks of tree flying about not to mention the logistics of people getting to and from.

Well I took the opportunity to visit some old haunts. Now drinking a marvellous pint of titanic blackberry stout in Sandbar. Oh and the wind has gone and the rain stopped. Just sayin!

There's a tree down in Westhoughton market street so god knows how windy it is up Rivi.

If Duncan has gone out, hope he is ok

I feel safe enough to admit that I'd already called myself off this morning. [img] [/img]
I think the first bit of this quote is referring to the lack of pies at the church or something.

Ha! My Mrs sent me that pic of Market St before. I bet The Sheath regulars will all be out tutting at it.

Just took a call from my md that a tree has blown over onto his flashy Range Rover at work. I can view the footage on my phone.............

Or fighting it...... 😀

The Police had the road blocked off at the clinic, but it wasn't shut off the other side of Market St. I came down and just encountered a Council tree surgeon van blocking it off near the Market.

Sounds more like it.

Ended up in there a few times after a night out, have to say I've had a proper laugh every time. Wouldn't want to cross anyone in there though!
