Anyone ride a mk2 solaris at around 5ft10?

I tend to avoid Cotics sizing charts as they seem to always come up really small (Soul/Bfe std anyway).

Chart says medium but I'm wary of their advice and I tend to prefer a larger frame.

Anyone running a large at my sort of height and how so you find it?

Cheers

I'm the same height as you (I think you were going to by my spitfire before I found the crack?), prefer longer frames myself, I ride a large with 55mm stem and 750 bars. Fit is perfect for me, I wouldn't want it any smaller.

Cheers Dave, yes that was me. Big help thank you.

Do you have 29s or 27.5+ in yours?

I'm 178cm so basically same height.

I'm running a mk1 Solaris at 120mm with 50mm stem, low rise 20mm 760mm bars and a 125mm dropper near the safe insertion limit, and I'm running a Medium.

I find 'large' frames feel like gates to me, clearly a matter of personal choice. I do tend to roll my bars forward a bit for front tyre loading from the standing position, which probably artificially lengthens my reach a bit.

I've ran both, prefer 650b+. More grip, comfier and IMO, if you get some decent tyres, they aren't any slower on the boring stuff! My preference is Ikon back, Rekon front.

I would say it depends on what you are mainly using it for.

I'm 5'11" (and a bit) and have a mk1 in a medium (60mm stem and 740mm bars) that I use for playing around on. It's fast and easy to chuck about in the woods.

However for longer mile munching rides I've got a large Karate Monkey Ops. Steeper angles and longer stem etc it feels great for that kind of xc riding.

Ran a medium mk1 for five years, saddle pushed back on a layback pin, 762mm bars and 65mm stem. Front end was very light on steep up hill but otherwise was fine.

Refocused on bikepacking and found it a little short on long days so I have replaced it with a large MAX (and running B+) and a 60mm stem (and straight pin) which feels better. But new large is 6.2mm longer (or so I was told) than the mk2.

I'm a couple mm short of 6'

I thought that's what people might say. The size chart says 6ft+ for large but as a brand they used to size up really small.

Anyone want to buy a re-welded medium Soda?

Mk2 has longer reach than the Mk1.
