Weird one- first ride on a new bike yesterday. End of the ride, removed the front wheel as normal from the Recon Solo Air fork, loaded up the bike, put the maxle in my bag with the lever in the 'open' position.
Got home, went to reinstall the wheel, maxle went in ok- but the lever is stuck open- hmm. Even pushing it gently to see if its just a bit sticky has no effect at all, it seems completely jammed.
Any thoughts?

Probably a different model, but mine has a quick release type screw on thingy at the other end. If it gets screwed in a bit it gives the same symptoms as you describe.
