Looking to do this before the end of the year & was looking at where to start
Littleborough would probably be the easiest to get to for me - are there any safe places to park near the trail there? or should I look elsewhere?
Anyone got any thoughts?
TBH it's a good loop, but has lots of poo bits in that don't seem to add much. Clockwise, the section from Hebden down to Summit was a bit dull, and likewise the section from Waterfoot up to the top of Deerplay was a bit like a gate opening exercise.
If I was doing it, I'd set off from the bottom of the descent that comes out near Hebden, do as much of the stuff above the canal down to summit as I could tolerate, then stick with the route to Waterfoot, hop on the road for the climb up to the top of Deerplay, then stick with the route again, finishing down the descent you started at, then you could hop on the canal and tootle home.
If you want to start in the Littleboro area, why not try starting at Watergrove Reservoir at Wardle? (about 2 miles from L'boro)
Nice secluded carpark not too near any dodgy areas, although i can't vouch for it's absolute safety.
Watergrove Reservoir looks like a reasonable spot to park/start - thanks
I'm not really expecting it to be a great route all round, it's just something that's been on my list for quite a while now & never quite got around to
Similarly - I'm hoping to do High Cup Nick this weekend as another one of those 'on my list' routes - I guess it will be a bit damp
Thanks all
You will need a snorkel and mask for sections the waterfoot to the Deerplay moor bit after a period of heavy rain.
The gates are part of the "attraction"
we always start at Blackshaw Head, for easy access to the New Delight, and a very enjoyable last hour or so.

Two on my tick list!! Maybe I'll wait for a cold spell before High Cup Nick and a bit of a dry period before the MTL.
Cheers

Clockwise or anti?
as andy p says if you start at the new delight pub (which is on the loop literally) you can camp there afterwards (it has camping and a shower) also has great food and it brews its own beer at the pub usually 3 or 4 of their own beers on at any time top pub!
oh and clockwise is the more usual way round - gives more riding and less pushing g
