Saw this on the Easy Composites yt channel. Pretty interesting.

Vlad Yordinov is the designer.

Met Vlad last year when we were looking for someone to do a carbon version of our BMX. Very nice chap and a very clever, practical engineer, That bike is beautiful especially when you consider it's essentially a prototype. It's quite the calling card and has got him a pretty good job with an OEM in Canada a believe.

Best of luck to him.

Yeah, amazing looking bike and such an involved process. Very clever stuff.

Can't help thinking it's horrendously bad in an environmental sense though.

In what sense?
From what I can see there is very little waste in the process, and the moulds etc. can be re-used.

In the afterlife and recycling sense I guess. Not like you can melt it down and make something else out of it. Plus, just a lot of chemicals involved.

Still, looks mint though.

The energy needed to make 10 kg of Aluminium is about 500 MJ

I drove my bike to Woburn about once a week for the the first 2 years I owned it (100 times). That used maybe 200 litres of diesel about 7000 MJ.

If the in 2120 they look back on how we wrecked the world I don't think carbon vs Aluminium bikes will be near the top of the list of sins

Lovely looking bike. I'll watch he video later.
