My XTs need a bleed, but I'm out of Shimano mineral oil.
I've a couple of bottles of Magura Royal Blood though, from my old Thors.
The one labelled as "Type 2" is pink and looks suspiciously like the Shimano stuff. The stuff labelled "Type 5" is yellowy and looks pretty gloopy.
Does anyone know if I can use the Type 2 in my shimano brakes?
does anyone know what the official weights are of each?
ah, Google has some answers:

Type 2 is SAE 5, Type 5 is lubrication oil.
Now what's Shimano?
worried about how well damped your brakes are? ๐
Well, yes, I guess so. I figure something too viscous isn't going to feel very nice to use, likewise, something too thin won't be right either.
Anyone else any ides?
don't you need the normal Magura brake stuff - which is the blue?
yeah, that is confusing.
The stuff I got from Moonglu a year or 2 ago in a Magura blood bottle with my replacement seals, was red.
Oh.
I've just had a thought about my old Thors, which had to have all new internals after they apparently had the wrong type of oil in them.
Doh!
Castrol LHM should do the job fine. Most motor factors sell it.
