Does anyone else have a Magene L508 (or Magicshine, which is identical) radar/tail light?
It's very much like a Garmin Varia and uses the same quarter turn mount BUT, for what I assume are copyright reasons, the mount is offset by 90° relative to the one used by a Varia...
Anyway, I'm trying to find a seatpost mount for it. It was supplied with one but I want to use it on multiple bikes. Ideally, such a mount needs to take the seatpost angle into account to a certain degree otherwise it would just point towards the ground.
There are plenty of solutions for a Varia and I'm just wondering whether anyone knows of a "puck" which can convert a Garmin mount into a Magene/Magicshine compatible (like two back-to-back mounts but with one offset by 90°)
Failing that, any other inventive solutions?
Most it the aftermarket garmin/ wahoo type mounts have four threaded holes under the puck so it’s easy to rotate them by 90 degrees.
Yeah, I tried a couple of after-market mounts - of the ones I tried, only one I was able to offset and it took some botching.
Ideally, what I'm after is something I can semi-permanently mount on the back of the radar (so Magene > Garmin orientation) so I can get any Garmin compatible mount. My bikes have three different seatpost designs/sizes (aero + 30.9 + 31.6...) plus I'd like the flexibility to mount on a saddle bag (normal and backpacking roll-up type) so rather than butchering multiple mounts, I just need to a "converter puck" to the back of the Magene.
I could, theoretically, cut off the existing mount and glue a Garmin mount on the back in it's place but I'm guessing I'm not the only person wanting this so someone, somewhere probably has a 3d printed solution already....
I use saddle rails ones for mounting varia and Garmin on the track bike. These allow 90 degree rotation with ease. About £12 from Amazon. My seatposts are aero integrated, so saddle rail is a good alternative.
