Hi all,

Just rebuilt a Lyrik (changed the air shaft for a longer one).

I've got a few questions please if anyone has time?

1) I seem go remember from a pike I did years ago you either make sure they are at full extension or fully compressed before putting the foot nuts back in- which is it?

2) I've read somewhere about people cycling travel as they add pressure, what's that all about?

3) Can anyone explain pressure equalization in the air spring to me please? Surely if the positive and negative pressures equalize then it's no longer a spring?

4) Any other tips I might not have picked up?

Cheers

1. Fully extended, otherwise you create a vacuum / third spring.

2. Yes, pump up in 50psi increments, then cycle the fork 5 times to equalise the chambers.

3. The positive spring allows the fork to return after compressing. The negative spring makes the fork supple and not just a pogo stick.

4. There's loads! Depends on what you need to know. For a Lyrik, just set the sag, keep the compression mainly open, and see the rebound as fast as it will go while it still feels controlled.

Thanks for this.

Do you mean 50psi increments? I think I only run about 60psi iirc?

Next question I have is about the debonair shafts... I've essentially got a frankenfork at min. It started life as a Yari- then had an RC2 damper fitted. I'd like to buy a debonair spring as i want to change the travel anyway.

The link here (below) lists Lrik b1+/Yari a1+ 2016+ as one option and Yari a1+ 2016 as another- whats that all about? How is that a different option?

Thats just semantics... The part is sold as an upgrade, and there was never a Lyrik in 140mm or below, so technically you cannot upgrade it as it never existed, hence the fact there's only the Yari listed for the shorter shafts. They are the same parts just shorter though.

Thanks, so the 150mm one will fit a 29 yari and make it 29?

I'll order that.

Also, are the low friction PUSH seals listed on TF Tuned worth bothering with?

Aye it will. The specific part is this one: https://www.bird.bike/product/rockshox-air-spring-upgrade-kit-2019-debonair-lyrik-b1-yari-a1-2016-27-5-29-150mm/

Ive tried different seals and Im not convinced that you can tell a huge difference from the ones in the forks right now when well serviced to upgraded ones. I think its often placebo - people run around on dry knackered seals, with no oil left in their lowers, do a service with some fancy new seals and are amazed when it works so much better... who knew ๐Ÿ˜‰

Thanks.

One last question, is there any difference to the Lyrik/Yari chassis at all? If I buy a debonair spring and uprated seals- with the RC2 damper I've got fitted is my fork now actually a 2019 Lyrik or is there some slight difference in the chassis?

The only difference would be in the stickers, assuming that your damper upgrade came with the black rebound knob.
