Just cant. The straps feel odd. The whole thing like Im being constrained. Am I alone?!

I tried on many brands of all sizes (le coq/endura/altura/casti (sp?) Etc

Have you tried riding in them, or just standing up? They're designed to fit when you're bent over on a bike.

Just double checking; you had the bib straps under your jersey? 🙂
Sounds like wrong size to me...

I don't think your cut out for road riding, even if you manage get yourself on a bike and turn the pedals you'll do something stupid and give us all a bad name. Stick to dicking around on the web.

hora, earlier

sorry, open goal and all that.

As JonE says they arent designed to be comfortable off the bike, but when in a riding position. When I'm on the bike the only way I know I have bibs on is the lack of discomfort from a waistband digging in/constraining my torso.

but then, this was me, earlier

Its impossible to give road cycling a bad name when all the amateurs look like clingfilm-wrapped porkers or pros like Froome who looks ill.

So stand down Sir Porkalot.

Its what you must do to belong. I try it but cant subscribe. One day roadbikes will have disc brakes. Dont conform, dont dress like a walking billboard. Chose life.

wear and do what makes you comfortable. For me on a road bike thats bib shorts that dont have waistbands that dig in, and tight lycra jerseys that fit snugly and dont flap around when in the riding position.

Did you buy the right size? I know that has been a bit of an issue for you and road kit...

I can't wait till hora decides he wants to go time trialling. Skin suits, pointy helmets, a whole new range of bike fit problems 🙂

Seriously though, this...

Have you tried riding in them, or just standing up? They're designed to fit when you're bent over on a bike.

Have you tried riding in them? They'll not feel right just walking about in.

Well I took a chance on Endura Meryls. Fantastic and dont notice they are there. £22 with price match.

I went back and bought a second pair.

No waistband issue and they dont feel hot. Weird.

Yes. I was out in them for 4hrs this morning under baggies on a group ride and 3hrs tonight. Under baggys or on their own = equally good.

Just ride with bib shorts now. Gave up on MTB shorts when I realised it was just a fashion thing. Bibs cooler and don't snag like shorts. When it's wet and cold in the winter I dig out my endura shorts to go ove the top.
