As title, havnt been down that way for a couple of years now and wondering whats changed?
Are trails still pen hid , whites and the wall?
Pen hid aka Penyhdd 😉 ... if you thought that was still one of the trails, it must have been 5 years or more since you've been there! 😛
... however, Penhydd is now finally reopened. I never got a chance to do the original, but the new version is fairly good. A touch smoothed out in places on the new parts, but some neat descents and what seems to be some old stuff that's a blast.
The Wall is same old, though has had some tweaks. There's the bike park part way round. Which is okay. Nothing amazing. Though maybe if you haven't slogged away to get there it might be better.
Whites is a shadow of its former self, though still fun. It underwent some maintenance and shed loads of tree felling, and the climb was closed for a while with the excellent Darkside descent being turned into a hideous climb and Rowan got to put in a swoopy smooth descent. Now it's restored to original climb and Darkside is the descent again but with the new descent as an option. Sadly all with no trees thanks to disease, and just doesn't feel the same. The black option at the top seems less black than I remember it also, though maybe it's just my experience or maybe the rocky stuff has worn down or been tamed, not sure.
There's the Blade trail now open. Not done it but heard opposing opinions of it, from amazing to pedally hell with short fun descents. The ones that really do like it seem to be people I know who love loads of climbing 😉
The rest I don't know. To be honest I've mainly done Whites every time I've been there. There's some other new stuff I think, and not sure what state Skyline is in (though really must get to do the descent some day).
