I washed my bike on Sunday using Muc Off and a hose (not jet wash). While fettling last night I noticed that one of the bar grips is loose and rotates around the bar. I can pull the grip off quite easily too. The bike's only a couple of months old and the grips are stock.

Can anything be done or do I need new grips?

Remove the old grips, clean the bars, put on new grips.

Lock on ones are good...

clean the inside of the grip and the bar with meths or similar solvent.

Use hairspray on the bar then quickly put the grip on and leave for 24hrs

or just buy lock-on grips which solve the problem entirely.

water and muck-off on the bars and under the grip - cean off with water and dry thoroughly (stick it int eh airing cupboard). The spray the bars with a bit of hairspray and put on ASAP and leave for a good few hours and you should be fine I would think 🙂

Edit: sorry repeated post 😉

Normal 'push on' grips are, and always have been, a pain in the arse. Just get rid of them and get some cheap lock-on grips. There's plenty around for under a tenner these days - On One, Halfords, Wiggle, Bontrager.

Personally I'd rather a bike was £2 cheaper and came with no grips at all, rather than fitting slide on grips....

Brown grips? Uhm, thanks but no thanks. I need some for a ride tomorrow anyway.

Thanks for the tips - looks like lock ons are needed.
