I'm looking for bike maintenance book for my 8 year old nephew. Anyone know of a book that that age group could use or kids specific bike books?
Also looking for nice bike gloves and basic bike maintenance tools.
All got to be found before xmas so not much time :/ eek!

Any advice, help, knowledge on this would be great.

Best bike gloves for kids are youth motocross gloves. They're proper gloves that are as good as adults and don't have Transformers logos (or similar such tosh) on like most kids "cycling" gloves

These are a mega bargain, I bought some for my son in France this summer. They are really good/proper riding gloves and lasted a summer of downhilling with loads of life left in them.

Haynes book I guess.

Tools? A folding allen key set. 8 and 10mm spanners (or a small spanner set), tyre levers, patches and pump?

The Formeulabikes web catalogue has a Cytech "Bikeschool" section which has some good basic advice (cleaning, lubing etc) written in a non patronising, kid specific manner.

Eldest lad has somehow been wearing the same pair of 661 kids bike gloves for the last 6 years - good value I guess ๐Ÿ™‚

These Decathlon cool weather kids gloves are also really good

Thanks all re decathlon gloves, will save the motocross ones for my own son ๐Ÿ™‚ (when he grows up) or 661, i didn't know they stuff for the youth of today.

I have the Haynes book and think it might just b a bit too much for him just now. I might just stick in a few sheets with web addresses on them and guide sheets. Gap in the market though! someone needs to go and write a kids bike maintenance book, ned to teach kids to fix bikes as well and ride em! Will have a look at eh formeulabikes stuff.

cheers
