[#3208183]

Hello,
We're off to Church Stretton in a couple of weeks to ride in the area and we're looking for some advice on the best bits of trail - both on the Long Mynd itself and in the surrounding areas.

Any pointers?

Also I seem to remember there was a route in the mag a while back. Does anyone happen to know which issue it was before I go rooting through them all?

Cheers!

Try Bringewood/Mortimer forest next to ludlow, about 20 mins south on Church Stretton.

Theres about 3 hours worth of superb trail riding, with a downhill bias in the forests.
Some of the trails need abit of local knowledge to get to! If you want to know more, then let me know, and ill email more exact details. It is possible to find all the trails yourselves, esp on the Bringewwod side, but Mortimer has a few hidden gems!

The two forests are really one forest, so its possible to link all best bits, this makes for a great 3 hour singletrack ride.

Townbrook Hollow on a Sunday afternoon is where it's at. Make sure you shout "Get out of the way rambling scum!" on your way down.

I did some walking there and if you like barren stuff on top there is some nice stuff near the gliding club (?).

Also did a bit quite far north but in the long mynd obviously, was just a massive rock garden. Not sure exactly where but would be... interesting... on a bike ๐Ÿ˜€

Another shout for Plush Hill cycles - most helpful when we popped in, very friendlty people. They were waiting delivery of a set of maps with trails (and suggested directions / routes) printed on. Should be available by now.

Get over to Eastridge. There is a way marked loop that takes you round all the best bits. If that is not enough just go back to the top ridge and pick a run down.

My top tip would be to stay at Bridges Hostel where you can ride the Mynd or Stiperstones and Eastridge and the pub next door has recently been re-opened.

check these out for trails:

(new map is now in store)
