[Closed] Lockout sagging on Fox RL100 forks

The lockout on my Fox RL 100 forks used to work perfectly, no more than 3mm of travel when switched on, unless I hit something really hard. It then started playing up, sagging whilst switched on, often not engaging at all and the sag point would also vary wildly.

I figured it was time for a service, so I got this done, specifying that I wanted the lockout fixed.

The sagging behaviour is now consistent, but they slowly (although far too quickly for my liking) compress to a sag point of 35mm or so when I put only light pressure on the front of the bike. I have discussed this with the service agent and they have suggested I try upping the pressure before returning the fork, but they have kinda said that they can offer no gurantee that they can get the lockout to behave in the manner I want it to - namely the manner in which it did when it was new.

If I was just doing trail centres all the time, I wouldn't be too bothered, but I also use it for long distance trekking, which includes a lot of long, long climbs, so I really need this to work properly.

Is this a known issue (for which read: sh** product) or something?

cheers

Not sure if yours is like mine, but I've got a lockout adjuster on the bars (works on cable in to top of Stanchion).

On the lockout adjuster, there's a barrel cable adjuster which you can adjust to give 3-35mm of travel.

I was fiddling with in one day on a road ride - that's how I found out !

Let me know how you get on.

Cheers, but this fork doesn't have a remote lockout.

Open bath (non FIT) dampers need to be bled if left to stand or bike has been upside down for some time, put rebound on full slow and cycle the forks slowly 10 to 20 time to get any air out.

If this doesn't cure it maybe something else such as dirt in the base valve assembly not allowing the shim to shut fully.

Bear in mind that the forks will sink thorough the lockout with a constant pressure on the bars such as leaning on them for a length of time.

Thanks, I'll give that a go.

does it have the lockout force threshold knob at the base of the fork ?
