Hi,
I've just moved house and finally have a garage to store my bikes in. I already have a ground anchor and a hefty chain, so I thought I was all set, but it turns out the chain isn't quite as long as I'd hoped.
My plan is to store the bikes vertically and secure them to the ground anchor with the chain. However, the only way I can make it work is by chaining my two full-suspension MTBs through the rear triangle.
How much of a security risk is this? How difficult would it be for a thief to remove the rear triangle and free the bike from the chain?
Ideally, I'd run the chain through the front triangle, but that's not possible with my current setup. Is securing the bikes via the rear triangle a significant weakness, or is it generally considered acceptable?
Thanks!
I may be naïve, but if they've got in the garage and found the bikes they're not going to care which part of the frame or triangle they're secured through. They'll either fancy their chances or they won't (hopefully the latter).
