What are the options? I know plenty in steel but am looking to make a silly light rigid bike for commuting.

Also will be buying second hand as can't be too expensive....
On one scandal with horizontal dropouts only option I've seen so far

TIA

I've got a 19.5 horizontal scandal (powdercoated black,no cable stops) hanging up in the garage for £50 (and a bit of p+p).

Have a look at the Cannondale Trail Single speed. It's a really light frame and fork, and the whole bike is sensible money. You'd want to change the gearing for road use though but it's very versatile.

Rorschach - sadly 19.5 is too big for me - would have bitten your arm off otherwise

I have a Whippet built up light with x-lite forks. Sounds like what you've after, unfortunately you can't have it! I do have a spare medium whippet frame though that is going on eBay shortly that might suit you. Needs the singlespeed drop outs buying from On One though. Message me if you're interested.
