I'm having a spot of bother deciding here.

I'm leaning King/Kong becaue they look like 'normal' wheels.

Both would be on Stan's rims.

Does anyone have have comparative experience of:

- strength
- reliability
- customer service near London?

Tune have been great for me. I guess you'd need to go through poshbikes.

I had Tune King/Kong Superscharf hubs, do not get the Superscharf if you want to use the bike, it fell apart in frustratingly little time, and because it's got a carbon axle with bonded end caps it's not user servicable, at all (not shown on the Posh Bikes website!), so I had to send it back twice in 18 months for an £80 service and rebuild my wheel each time.

The standard hubs are excellent, and most importantly they're available in white... I'd inclined to get them from Europe, Starbike seem to hold good stock.

I've got some king/kong and so far so good, though they've not got a lot of miles on them (very much race only wheels). Poshbikes were nice to deal with.

Just make sure you have at least 2 hours spare when you phone them, Andy likes to talk!

Hi,

Thanks for your comments. Ah, yes, I must have spoken to Andy! but will check out Starbike, though nearest service is easiest.

Thanks again

Jerome

i have a 2 year old set of king/kong hubs on stans olympic rims with revolution spokes.
great wheels, strong, super light, never had much problems, hand built by my lbs. local riding involves inners dh tracks, drops at 4/5ft. jumping and all sorts. still rather faultless.
trued a few times. but generally damn good. i got the hubs super cheap too! so made it a bargain wheelset.

though i do like the look of industry nines...

I also had my Tune hubs on Olympics with CX-Rays, the wheels were faultless, with the exception of the silly rear hub, which I'd have not chosen if I'd known.

The proprietary parts put me off I9s, spares etc are going to be harder to come by.

I'm another with Olympics on King/Kong, and very happy with them. Fairly sure they're significantly lighter than I9s as well. Got my hubs from the LBS who special ordered them from the importer (not Poshbikes back then, though that was a few years ago), since I wanted gold not the standard black. Otherwise I'd have got them from Starbike.

I haven't tried the tune's but I have recently had a few hours on some iNine hubs laced to dt rims. I thought they were excellent, super positive engagement, rolled forever and sounded like a chris king. However I wouldn't pay that sort of dosh for them - I'd be happy with hopes tbh.
