Weighing in at a mere 14kg my daughters specialized riprock semi fat 24" is the heaviest bike we have. The fat tyres have helped with line choice but she is now confidentially smashing out 20 mile rides and we feel the weight of the bike is the limiting factor.
We are looking for a lighter and more nimble option.
Any thoughts, advice or recommendations welcomed.
If it’s pure XC you’re thinking then these are very impressive bikes

Almost a stealth ad, as I have one to sell shortly, how about a Vitus Nucleus 26?

+1 for vitus nucleus
Worth looking at Whyte Secta depending on budget
Are you after a small 26 or another 24?
In all honesty I don't think there's a lot of weight to be saved on 24" bikes as parts aren't readily available.
If you can find a small 26" there are so many options to make it lighter as you can get carbon forks, light wheels etc
Might be a touch too early but I went have what I imagine is the lightest option available if you want to try/ buy it.
Spec Stumpie full suss. Carbon frame, carbon cranks. 26" wheels, 15.5" frame. ( Wife is 5'3")
Manchester.
If you're ready to move onto 26" wheels then you can take advantage of worthless superlight wheels folk have stashed in their garages, same with suspension forks.
AliExpress has options on 26" carbon hardtail frames which is what my lad is on and short kids cranks.
Wait for the almost weekly discount codes and offers along with big top cashback. I paid a net ca. £160 for this

That's what my daughter has moved onto, a small 29er Secta. 😀
The vitus is not particularly light, mine also has badly aligned disc mounts and the mech hangers are made of cheese. Problem is there are not many other decent options. A Whyte 403 with upgrades (lighter fork and wheels) perhaps.
