My 16 year old grandson has a 2nd hand ebike with a problem.
It's a 2019 Levo SL Comp and the drive side lower pivot bolt has stripped its thread. Soft as cheese and it has a left handed thread, M12 x 1.0mm pitch. Absolutely proprietary and as far as I can see only available as part of a kit. The kits cost in the region of £100 and I'm not certain they still have one for that model. Our local Specialized shop used the frame number and (I think) pointed me to a different one.
And I don't yet know if the frame might be stripped as well - I cant even find a bolt with the same thread anywhere on the web.
I've got a few bodge job ideas that I may have to revert to (involving epoxy or heat) but I'm sure somebody on here will have had it happen and has found a solution.
Alloy fastener with a ridiculously fine thread, and left handed. Yeah, you can see how that got stripped, what an absolute gash design.
Could it be drilled out a bit and helicoiled? With a proper right hand thread bolt obviously. Looks long enough.
Not cheap, but then neither is the bike. You could change them all, or at least have spares.
I'm a pretty competent bike fixer, lots of tools and quite a few skills as a woodworker and maker. Helicoils have always seemed to be for other people though, a bit of a mystery. Similarly Loctite. Any reason why I shouldn't have a go?

Are you thinking of just loctite-ing the same knackered bolt in? It's really not designed for that. The red type might well work, but that requires significant heat to dismantle in future, and you'll not want to do that to an alloy frame.

Is it the main frame or rear triangle? I cracked the seatstay on a SX Trail once and Specialized sourced me a replacement triangle at cost price despite the bike being years old and me being the 2nd owner.

I'm reasonably sure the gen 1 Levo SL uses the same main pivot bolts as the previous gen Stumpjumper (MY21). You'd think that a long term Specialized dealer would have a collection of used bolts stripped from warranty frames. Maybe try Dave Mellor in Shrewsbury. They've been a Specialized dealer since before I bought my 1989 Rockhopper Comp ha.
Thanks Will, maybe Gary's old shop (Mammoth - Specialized - Certini as it is now) showed the Stumpjumper kit (a bit cheaper).
