Light Bicycle Rims....

[Closed] Light Bicycle Rims. How long in UK customs?

I have read the whole of the main light bicycle thread and I'm sure the answers are in there somewhere but I can’t remember.
I ordered some light bicycle rims a few weeks ago and checked the tracking last week and it said they have been handed over to Parcel force Coventry customs. I checked again earlier and the status hasn't changed.
Any idea what happens next? I believe they send you a letter asking for payment before arranging to deliver them.
I only ask as I'm off on holiday on Monday so the timing may not work out well unless I can pay for them before I go and arrange delivery for after I get back.
I'm not in a rush for them I just don’t want the letter to arrive the day after I leave for holiday and I don’t respond in time or similar.

Thanks

Andy

Mine were in for about 4 days. Once I saw the status transferred to their final depot, I called parcel force asking if I could pay the customs even tho I did not have the letter.

They gave me the customs ref number over the phone and I paid online, rims came the next day (along with the customs letter!!)

Give parcel force a phone.

Normally with PF customs for a day or so before transferring to the local office. The local office will then send you a letter asking you to pay their charges. Like Mike I rang my local office once they had the box and paid over the phone which saved at least a day on the process.

My new wheels were dispatched on Monday but looking at the tracking info nothing has changed for over 24 hours.
Latest update states: 2015-03-31  12:54:23 XIAMEN Despatch from sorting centre.

Is the tracking info updated regularly? Wondering if they're on the plane between China and the UK or could now be at customs.

Thanks for the info.
I gave parcel force a ring and they said they haven't been processed yet so I couldn't pay to release them. They have had them a week so I'm not sure what they are doing with them. It's not a problem though as they hold them for 21 days and I'll be able to do it when I get back from holiday.
I can't do anything with them yet as I'm still waiting for my frame to be delivered to the shop.

Just checked the tracking again and it says

Released from customs.

Arrival at delivery office.

Any idea what this means and when I will get the letter to pay customs?

HMRC may have released them duty free or you might get a letter in a week or two.

It would be nice to avoid the charges but I'm not expecting too. I factored it into the cost and I'm happy to pay. Nicer not too though.

did you factor in the parcel force hijacking costs. £16 to handle you parcel.
