Any one tried these? I tried them in the shop and they felt super comfy but they didn't have the wide fitting in stock. Do they work as a winterboot? I ride no matter what the weather, temp or conditions so need a good boot. I like the shimano MW80 but water does get down the top ( I have thin ankles ) and once they're wet they are a nightmare to dry before the next ride. The MW80s do keep your feet warm though even when they're wet. There's the big frankenstien looking lake boot too which I would use but really like the feel of the MX140 if they perform.
Cheers.

I've looked at then previously, but there always described as a wet weather boot, not a winter boot, as they have little in the way of insulation.
Lakes winter boot is after all the frankenstein's monster inspired MZ 302

A pal has the 140, I would describe then as a wet autumn boot, having said thtlat I have reynaulds disease and make full use of the aforementioned 320s. Yes I look like a special needs stormtrooper but to come home after a winter night ride and still being able to feel my feet is one worth the price and ridicule... I'm stilll wearing mine well into March / April... In fact I wore them in late May in Scotland this year, although that may just be a reflection on how nesh I am.

I used to have an old version of the Lake Winterfrankenboot. It was remarkably ugly but wonderfully comfy and warm. I got it when Merlin were doing them for something stupid (£40 from memory). When they died I baulked at getting the full price replacement.

I've had the MX140's for a couple of years. Comfy, functional and the eVent fabric is very breathable so ok when its warm and wet - just wear a merino woolly walking sock when its really cold. If you clump your feet on rocks regularly they may be a bit too lightweight for you but i find them great in the muddy south east.
They have also stopped making them earlier this year so snap them up if you find some.

My LBS lead me to believe that there will be new ones out in a couple of months?

I've got these boots. I love them. They're very comfortable, lightweight, but yet manage to be warm enough on cold days and cool enough on the hottest summer day. I don't wear any other biking shoes. On very cold days, they can get cold but a normal wool sock underneath is all I wear.
If you're not looked at them closely, they're not like other shoes. Instead they're like a neoprene sock with a plastic toe & heal cap. The rest of your foot is unprotected, which makes them very comfortable.
The only downside is that the angle opening is on the large side and you can't tighten them up to make them waterproof around the top.

The MX140 Is discontinued for 2012 ( quite right mudpup ) so I'll probably give the MXZ302's a try, hope they are worth the money.

I just looked in the CycleSurgery nr Liverpool Street (the one with a Runners Need in) - they have the LX140s at £54 - there was a 43 on display.

I also saw them at this price in the Chertsey CycleSurgery some months ago.

They seem a bit narrow for me, and they also seemed a little heavier than the MW80s, and the sole wasn't as stiff.

LX140 is a completely different shoe - its an all weather commuter boot thats now discontinued.
