Evening STWrs

I've just organised a few days to the Lake District basing me and Miss Sid in Ambleside for her birthday.

We're taking the bikes and I've seen Grizedale which looks good. Having not ventured this far uuuuup north with the bikes is there anywhere else I should consider? Not difficult but interesting would be the mantra.

What suggest ye?

Ta

Depends oin what you like riding really,Grisedale has some great natural trails, and the last decent of the North face trail is ok.

I would advise you to call in at a local bike shop,(Biketreks Ambleside or Wheelbase Stavely) where they will be more than happy to give you routes and advice on where to ride.

have a good one ๐Ÿ˜‰

From Ambleside you're spoilt for choice.

If you can get an evening descent back to town along Loughrigg Terrace this trail here, then that's a cracking end to a ride.

Best bet is to pop into BikeTreks in Ambleside and buy some of their route maps and/or the Vertebrate Graphics Lake District guide. (this book here)

you could also join the lancaster bogtrotters club, who organise rides in the lakes regularly.

check them out

The lakes is a great place to ride but all of the really good rides include some hike-a-biking. Grizedale is good for the flatter stuff (in comparison) and there is some very good riding there. If you don't mind hike-a-bike the nan bield loop, walna scar, high street and helvellyn are all good.

I would only recommend that one to people I don't like ๐Ÿ™

Cheers,

Some good suggestions there. Not looking to do any hike-a-bike. If there was a continuous downhill loop like an esher painting that would be my cup of tea!

Not sure I'll be around for the bogtrotters but they look interesting.
