Chris Hoy got one for 3 gold medals in one games
Matthew Pinsent got one for 4 gold medals in consecutive games
Kelly Holmes got one for 2 gold medals in one games
With 2 gold medals in one games, 3 golds in total and 6 olympic medals in total (equalling Redgrave's British record), you have to wonder why Wiggo currently only has an OBE, and whether he now deserves a knighthood. Or does he also have to win the TT gold medal at the games to get that?
If he gets one will the TV captions say Sir B. Wiggins?
It would have to be a strong case to dissuade me that he deserves one.
His name doesn't work.
Sir Bradley Wiggins
He should get one though for services to sideburns.
First Brit to win the Le Tour, he should be made PM.
Sir modfather
Dave should be in front of him in the queue though.
I'm glad I'm not the only one to think that the honours system for athletes is bizarre. We have some top medal winners in other sports, archery and shooting to name two, and they never get a mention.
I have concluded that in order to get honours, you need to win gold medals AND get the press on your side.
I also think David Brailsford should be at the front of the queue given what he has done for British cycling and his part in the gold rush.
true true.
Sir David Brailsford.
KING Bradley I.
And another honour for John Major for starting the national lottery .Without its money none of this would have started
