I'm off to Kirroughtree this week end has anyone ridden the trails, how are they? is there any bits that I should look out for?
Cheers
raced there on Sunday and although there had been a fair bit of rain the trails were'nt too muddy or cut up, great swooping singletrack and plenty of natural trails if you look for them. enjoy!
Not been for a while but it has been lovely and dry here in Dumfries for a while so trail shoul;d be ace. 16deg, sunny 8) as today ๐
s there any bits that I should look out for?Cheers
The whole trail really
My fav bit is Talnoutry which is after McMoab and after the BIG climb called Heartbreak Hill. My advice is not to kill yourself on the outward journey to that bit and save your energy for Talnoutry and the return journey.
Enjoy ๐
If you google flickr, photobucket, youtube and vimeo there will be plenty of pics and vids to see.

Thanks for the info, the Chute looks fun, there is a quarry localy and that has a similar chute, but a tree half way down that you have to avoid ๐ but you can't touch the brakes ๐ฏ I'm quite excited now...
Enjoy the flow. The black is a fairly long ride, especially if you want to put effort into putting a good stab in at McMoab so remember to bring food with you.
The black is an extra loop you do halfway around the red that roughly doubles the length of the trail. Make sure you keep some energy in reserve for the second half of the red as it has one mean climb on it and a lovely, flowy, swoopy finish.
Thanks ChrisL , some good advice I will take some extra food.
McMoab sounds a difficult part of the trail.. I'm not that good for balance so it will be a challenge, ๐
Have fun Mr M.
McMoab is not compulsory. You can just carry on round past it on the forest road and save yourself 30 minutes, lots of energy and skinned appendages ๐ It's good fun though!
I was there yesterday and the trails were just fine, the odd puddle here and there, also parts of the red trail have been pretty well churned up after the SXC races on Sunday.. are you doing the Black route? (22 miles), then enjoy "Talnotry Hill" "Hissing Syd" "The Jabberwocky", Rivendell is a good blast as is the doon hill loop.. just have fun and enjoy the day, the Cafe is closed, but the Breakpad bike shop do Teas/coffee and crisps..
recorded yesterday....
Black Craigs was the best bit for me. Flowing, fast and fun.
I hope you don't end up walking the last bit like I did.
