Off up to the Borders (Traqquair, nr Innerlethin and Glentress) to stay with mates and bike etc for a few days. Off up this Friday but the digs aren't free until late Saturday.
Fancied a stop somewhere on the way up so that can make the most of either the evening / Saturday morning. Folks travelling from various places but mostly Leeds / NW.
Never ridden Kielder and thought it would make a good place to stop / break the journey. There's bothies to the north but don't know all/any of them - any recommendations or words of wisdom? Finding a pub with space on the Friday is awkward, what with the school hols, bank holiday and all ๐
Otherwise there's a bivi somewhere, but not knowing the area and short notice I'd welcome any recommendations. Rough area? I guess anywhere between Hexham and Harwick ๐
Other than that, the vaguest idea is to drive up to Inners (probably 4 hours, so getting there at 8, maybe 9), do the XC climb, bivi at / near the top and then ride the descents before breakfast. Having only been when it had (officially) the DH I don't even know if that's practical / feasible.
Any ideas welcome.
