Whilst hunting out my winter gloves I came across my Camelbak bladder which was probably last used in the era pre-Covid! It still had water in it... There was no obvious mould anywhere and it smelled that same as I remember when I was using it regularly. I've washed it out with effing hot water and Fairy Liquid but...

...would you use it?

Yes. I might soak it with a Milton tablet first

Or dilute plain bleach (hypochlorite stylee preferably) if you have it

Swill it out , chuck it in the freezer and use when needed.

Hot water. Washing up liquid. Give it a wash (in a plastic washing up bowl, in the kitchen sink, just to set the STW massif off 🤣). Give it a rinse. In the freezer. Use as required. Oh, don't forget to use the dishcloth that's left from the previous washing up too...

Why the freezer? Most lurgies don’t get killed off, they just hibernate.

I'd certainly be giving it a good bubbly scrub, rinsing out then sterilise it with milton/starsan/bleach.

I'd use it, maybe after the milton/bleach wash if I had any

Yes, people are far too squeamish about this stuff. Mine has permanent black stuff in it, but it's fine.

Beat it with a bit of 4x2 with a nail through the end until it stops moving

Thanks @ernie, but I suspect your method may be somewhat sub-optimal when considering future fluid retention performance...

I stored mine in the freezer and somehow it has become impregnated with the smell and taste of garlic - very refreshing

Shouldn't leak too bad if it's come straight out the freezer

Yeah, freezer is bloody pointless.

Use a weak bleach solution to clear it, then I use a denture tablet to every other week to keep it clean

Barf.....

Anyway, Camelbaks are soooooo 2018, hip packs are sooooo 2019 \ 20. The cool kids these days are back to water bottles, bib shorts with stash pockets and shite strapped to the bike everywhere, and of course, long pants\slacks,t-shirt, no gloves regardless of the weather 🙂

If Milton is good enough for new born babies bottles, it will be fine for your bladder.

When you've finished it, clean it, empty it and hang it up on a camel back drying thing that's like a coat hanger for bladders. No need for a freezer.

Mine was black inside the tube Milton and turning a blind eye worked then my wife filled it with voddie and Coke for a festival that killed it

Denture tablets?

Is that basically the same stuff that Camelbak use in their cleaning tabs?  They are the only thing I've found that can get the taste of stale tea / coffee out of thermos bottles, metal or plastic.
