The eldest Pie Jnr has a 14" bike that looks comically small for him now (he's only 4). Yesterday I got a 20" bike from the recently established second hand Islabikes FB group (thanks again Alex) with plans to give it to him for xmas.

The trouble is, I'm not sure that I can wait that long to let him at it.

It's only 6 weeks, but it's sure to feel like an eternity.

Hi piemann - meant to thank you on FB! Great to meet you.

I know what you mean. I'm not really a Christmas/Birthday person, but my wife is. I'd much rather give them something when it's appropriate. They grow so fast!

Just take it one sleep at a time. Also, the less you think about it the quicker Christmas will come.

Piemann , don't give in , take it to a friends / relations / neighbours and forget about it ? Had my first proper bike when I was 9 it was a chalton corsa road bike on Xmas morning , still think of it every Xmas and I'm now 50 , give your nipper a memory he will never forget ? If your lucky you may get out 5 times before Xmas , is it worth it?

Whatever you do, don't wrap it so it looks like a bike, it takes bloody ages ๐Ÿ˜€

Having read the collective wisdoms above, I think I might have calmed down enough to hold off till Santa can deliver it in person.

Thanks for talking me down. ๐Ÿ˜€
